How meditation makes me one step closer to being a minimalist

The task for our 21 day minimalism challenge today is to meditate for 10 minutes. You might be asking: ‘how is meditation related to minimalism?’

Minimalism is an attitude towards life. There is never one action to become a minimalist. We embrace minimalism as a way of life and life is never about owning more stuff, it is about focusing on the deeper meaning. Undeniably, everyone has their own definition of the deeper meaning of life. There is no right or wrong. What’s yours? Mine is to have a life filled with passion and freedom in which we grow as individuals and contribute beyond ourselves.

Have you found yours? If not, it might be good to start off with meditation. Try spending 10 minutes focusing on yourself, observing your thoughts and understanding yourself better.

Meditation also helps us with making better decisions. Throughout our lives, we make hundreds of thousands of decisions. Oftentimes, more than we realised, we made the wrong decision. We did not ask ourselves deep enough to make the long term beneficial decision but instead we just went for the quick and easy ones. Minimalism helps us not to get distracted by the outside world and focus only on our own selves. We will know where and what to spend our emotion, energy and enthusiasm on.

So let’s practice minimalism today by meditating. Spend 10 minutes sitting in a cozy corner and think about what is your definition of your life.
